Dog owners all know that dogs snore and sleep like humans, and they look very cute! So what’s going on when dogs snore while sleeping? Let’s find out together below.

1. Incorrect sleeping posture

When the dog’s respiratory tract is compressed while sleeping, snoring will occur. If your dog likes to sleep on his back, he will be more likely to snore than a dog who sleeps curled up or on his stomach. In this case, the owner can adjust the dog's sleeping position to see if it improves.

2. Breed reasons

There are some special breeds of dogs, such as bulldogs, pugs and other short-nosed dogs. Because their muzzles are relatively short, their nasal cavities are narrower, and they are often prone to snoring at night.

3. Too Obese

If a dog is too obese, a large amount of fat will accumulate, which will cause its airway to become narrower, making it easier to snore. In this regard, owners can check whether the dog is obese. If it is obese, they need to control the dog's diet and increase the amount of exercise. All of these can make the dog healthier.

4. Respiratory diseases

If your dog has not snored before and suddenly snores while sleeping, accompanied by symptoms such as runny nose and sneezing, it is likely to be suffering from respiratory diseases, such as rhinitis, cold, etc. The snoring occurs due to the obstruction of the respiratory tract. If you find that your dog has the above abnormal symptoms, it is recommended to go to the pet hospital for examination in time, and then provide symptomatic treatment according to the examination results.
