Ajax has suspended John Heitinga as head coach with immediate effect. The manager's contract was originally scheduled to last until June 30, 2027, but will now be terminated. Assistant coach Marcel Keizer was similarly treated. Ajax are looking for a new head coach; in the meantime, Fred Grim will take over Heitinga's duties.
Heitinga served as the assistant coach of Liverpool coach Slott last season and won the Premier League championship with the team. In 2017, Heitinga accepted the invitation to be the head coach of Ajax, leading the team to a total record of 5 wins, 5 draws and 5 losses.
