In addition to excluding waste, the kidneys have some other functions, such as maintaining acid and alkalinity in the blood, ionic balance, osmotic pressure balance, etc. These are the functions of the kidney's skeleton and renal tubules.

Simplely put, renal failure means that the kidneys lose the above functions. When the kidneys lose their function, the first thing that is to be affected is the problem of the inability to excrete toxins. Next, the toxins will begin to accumulate. When the toxins accumulate to a certain stage, the body will begin to have some symptoms. For example, poor appetite, lack of energy, vomiting, and even bleeding stools, etc., some urinary system may also begin to have problems, such as prone to thirst and hyperuria, but sometimes symptoms of anuria or oligouria may occur.

When a dog is suspected of having renal failure, the doctor usually takes a blood test to check the urea ammonia value in the blood. Generally speaking, the normal urea ammonia value is usually below 30. The higher the urea ammonia value, the worse the function of the kidney to excrete toxins. The accumulation of toxins in the body will produce something called CREATININE. This is a substance metabolized by the muscles, so it is also called "creatine". The normal creatine is usually below 2. Therefore, when the test results, the BUN value and creatine value exceed the normal standard, it almost means that you have suffered from renal failure, and the more it exceeds, the more dangerous it is.
