Compared with male dogs in estrus, female dogs develop and mature earlier. Many female dogs have signs of estrus from 6 months old. After 8-10 months of age, female dogs will basically mature sexually.

1. Female dogs are in estrus twice a year, mostly in spring (February to April) and autumn (September to November). The best breeding of female dogs should not be earlier than 1.5 years old.

2. Generally speaking, the process in which a female dog starts from the previous estrus period to the next estrus period is called the sexual cycle, about 126 to 240 days.

3. The estrus period of female dogs often lasts for 14 to 21 days. Generally, female dogs ovulate on the third or fourth day after estrus, and the pregnancy period is about 60 days (58 to 63 days). Warm reminder: Overall, medium and large dogs mature a little later, such as Golden Retriever, Samoyed, etc.; while small dogs mature earlier, such as Pomeranian, Poodle, etc.
