This disease is a poisoning caused by dogs eating foods containing Clostridium botulinum. Clinical characteristics are characterized by motor central nervous system paralysis and cerebral prolongation palsy, and the mortality rate is very high. Clostridium botulinum is found in animal carcasses, meat, feed and canned foods, and is widely distributed and has strong resistance.
【Symptoms】
The severity of the disease is proportional to the amount of intake. The incubation period is several hours or several days. The earlier the symptoms appear, the more serious the poisoning is. The symptoms of the disease are progressive development. At the beginning of the disease, vomiting and spitting can be seen, which develop into symmetric limb paralysis. Generally, it extends from the hind limbs to the forelimbs, which in turn causes quadriplegia. The reflex function of the affected dog is reduced and muscle tone is reduced; obvious motor nerve dysfunction occurs. Sick dogs generally have low body temperature and are awake. Due to masseter muscle paralysis, sagging mandibular, salivation, difficulty chewing and swallowing, sagging ears, poor eyelid reflexes, visual impairment, and dilated pupils. Severe dogs can see reduced septal muscle tone, dyspnea, cardiac dysfunction, and a high mortality rate.
[Prevention and Treatment]
(1). Each dog can be injected with 3-5 ml intramuscularly or intravenously. Early application is more effective than late application.
(2). Kanamycin sulfate injection 50,000 units/kg body weight, 2 times/day.
(3). Rehydration therapy, 100-1000 ml of 5% glucose saline, 10-50 ml of 5% sodium bicarbonate injection, mixed intravenous drip.
(4). Prevent dogs from eating spoiled meat and food. The food should be heated for 100 C before feeding and fed for more than 10 minutes.
